On February 12, Nareit Hawaii was honored with the Luminary Award from Family Promise of Hawaiʻi at its 3rd Annual Brighter Futures Gala.

Founded in 2005, Family Promise of Hawaiʻi is a nonprofit focused on serving families with children experiencing homelessness on Oahu and Maui.

Nareit Hawaii was selected for the Luminary Award due to the statewide impact of its Nareit Hawaii Community Giving Initiative. With support from REITs operating in Hawaii and the Nareit Foundation, the program has awarded 62 grants totaling $3.8 million to nonprofits throughout Hawaii for affordable housing projects and charitable causes since its launch in 2018.

Nareit Hawaii Executive Director Gladys Quinto Marrone accepted the award on behalf of Nareit Hawaii, which is the first organization to be presented with the honor. The previous two recipients of the Luminary Award were Hawaii Governor Josh Green in 2024 and Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi in 2025.

Marrone commented, “This award reflects the collective contribution of our many REIT partners and the Nareit Foundation who made it possible for the Nareit Hawaii Community Giving Initiative to support the affordable housing solutions that nonprofits are providing to families throughout Hawaii.

“We believe the basis of every family’s success is having stability, hope, and a place of their own to call home. We are proud to stand alongside Family Promise of Hawaiʻi and thank them for their dedication to uplift families out of homelessness and make Hawai‘i a better place to grow and thrive.”
