A traditional Hawaiian blessing on April 28 marked the start of construction on a new home by the Honolulu Habitat for Humanity using funds donated by REITs in Hawaii to the Nareit Foundation.
Since 2018, the Nareit Foundation and Nareit Hawaii have awarded $2.2 million in grants to 26 nonprofit organizations statewide to support affordable housing projects and community charities. Please watch the video to learn more about the good work being done by many of these nonprofits for Hawaii.
Today, Veterans Day, Hawaii Island elected officials and community leaders welcomed the start of a new affordable rental housing development – Hale Nā Koa ‘O Hanakahi – that is being built in Hilo for seniors with a preference to serve U.S. military veterans and spouses of deceased veterans.
Nareit Hawaii presented The Salvation Army with a grant of $25,000 to support its “Love Beyond Thanksgiving” initiative to help feed families, children and the elderly on Oahu in need of assistance in 2023.
Nareit Hawaii presented the nonprofit Domestic Violence Action Center with a grant of $10,000 for its Hale Fund, which provides survivors of abuse with support to increase housing opportunities to protect their safety and independence.

The contribution is for the Futures for Keiki program, with the funding to be utilized to support after school programs and food nourishment.
Nareit Hawaii Awards $30,000 Grant to Binhi At Ani Filipino Community Center to Support its Bayanihan Feeding Program
Nareit Hawaii awarded a $30,000 grant to the Binhi At Ani Filipino Community Center to support the expansion of its Bayanihan Feeding Program, the beneficiaries of which are seniors on fixed incomes who have free meals prepared and delivered to them at home.
